Thousands of years ago, acupuncturists would stimulate points on the scalp for the purpose of treating neurological and other diseases throughout the body. It is very unlikely that these ancient practitioners had any idea about how needling specific points on the scalp could changing brain functions. They simply had no way of measuring the effects of their treatment on brain function. We now know that scalp acupuncture points correspond to specific parts of the brain. The classical Gall Bladder (GB) and  Urinary Bladder (UB) Acupuncture Meridians overlie the motor, sensory and insular brain cortex areas. Stimulation of these surface acupuncture points may affect brain functions in the corresponding portion of the brain.
