The next thing you need to consider is what type of supportive therapy you'll receive as part of your decompression treatment. The fact of the matter is that you want to decompress the spinal nerves, but you also want to have additional therapies that promote the regeneration of the nerves that have already been damaged from the pressure upon them.  Low level laser therapy and acupuncture are two excellent treatments to include along with your spinal decompression treatments.  Try to find a decompression center that can offer you acupuncture and laser at the same time you are receiving the actual spinal decompression treatment. In this way you can have your pinched nerves decompressed while at the same time use therapies known to promote repair and regeneration of those parts of the nerves that are already damaged. This combined approach offers you your best chance for the most complete recovery possible.   There are even nutrients that you can take that will accelerate the healing process in the nerves that have been injured and damaged due to prolonged compression and pressure.  A comprehensive spinal decompression center  will offer these nutrients to you as part of a complete package of spinal nerve decompression and repair.  Just like there are many surgical procedures used to decompressed pinched spinal nerves, there are also a number of different techniques available for non-surgical decompression of these nerves. The important point to remember is that  every procedure, both surgical and non-surgical, seeks to take pressure off nerves that have been damaged by compression. So which spinal decompression procedure is the best to use to help you? Let's look at your options.  There are many big impressive looking decompression units available to treat back pain like the one pictured at the top of the page. These are very expensive machines and are considered experimental by most insurance plans.  Therefore most insurance plans will not cover the cost of treatment with these devices. Because of  this, you will have to pay for this treatment out of your own pocket. Furthermore there are few, if any, head-to-head scientific studies that show these devices to be more effective than  other decompression techniques that are covered by insurance.

The Vertetrac® Ambulatory Decompression Belt (second photo to the right) is different from all other types of spinal decompression devices.  It allows patients to exercise while undergoing decompression. Especially for patients suffering from spinal stenosis this is an important feature. The Back Bubble is a home based traction device designed to decompress spinal stenosis. Spinal Cupping (bottom photo) is based on acupuncture and can often provide rapid pain relief of irritated spinal nerves.  Most patients with spinal stenosis have increased pain associated with walking, a condition called claudication.
